New York Breast Reconstruction Alliance (nyBRA) sponsors Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day USA to raise awareness about reconstruction options post mastectomy

Despite the increased availability of quality breast reconstruction procedures, only one-third of women undergoing mastectomy in the United States are informed of their reconstructive options. National Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day, known as BRA Day USA took place on October 17th 2012 as an inaugural event addressing this issue.

As founders of the New York Breast Reconstruction Alliance (nyBRA), we are proud to announce our sponsorship and support of BRA Day USA. We formed nyBRA as a coordinated effort dedicated to improving quality outcomes and quality of life for individuals undergoing breast reconstruction. These efforts include state-of-the-art surgery and patient support services offered through our plastic surgery practice, Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, PC, this educational website, and the training of future generations of breast reconstruction surgeons through the Microsurgery Fellowship Match.

Our partnership with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Plastic Surgery Foundation, in supporting BRA Day USA adds yet another dimension to the work we do. In the coming months, the nyBRA website, currently in development, will be online providing an additional resource for medical professionals as well as breast cancer patients and their caregivers.

It is with great anticipation that we look forward to being a part of the BRA Day USA initiative, which is in keeping with our mission of bringing together the best resources of advanced surgery, patient support, and education to optimize care for women facing mastectomy and reconstruction.
